The Glyptothek in the Königsplatz is notable as the first public sculpture gallery ever erected. The gallery houses a collection of Greek and Roman sculptures owned by the Bavarian state. The building, commissioned by King Louis I of Bavaria and designed in the Neoclassical style by Leo von Klenze.
